Getting Intuit certified, particularly in accounting and financial software like QuickBooks, can offer various advantages for individuals in finance and accounting roles.

The Intuit Certification program consists of 4 separate certifications to pursue:

  • Intuit QuickBooks Certified User
  • Intuit Certified Bookkeeping Professional
  • Intuit Design for Delight Innovator
  • Intuit Personal Finance

The Intuit QuickBooks Certified User Online exam will test candidates on new features found in the Intuit QuickBooks Online software. While many of the features are similar, Intuit QuickBooks Online is a cloud-based subscription service that provides the flexibility to take care of business anytime, anywhere. With the Online version, you are tested on the new features which include: receipt capture from a mobile device, cloud-based app support, work from anywhere on any device, instant file access for accountants, schedule and send invoices automatically.

The Intuit QuickBooks Certified User Desktop exam tests basic accounting knowledge and utilities of the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software that includes pre-built sample companies, multiple company files, annual updates, and data backed-up and restored. Intuit QuickBooks Desktop is a one-time download accounting software with industry-specific features and reporting.

The exam is 50 minutes with approximately 40 questions. Individuals taking this certification exam will be expected to have a knowledge and understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles and at least 150 hours of instruction. The core concepts covered in the exam include accounting basics; accounting for assets and sales transactions; accounting for liabilities, equity, and purchase transactions; reconciliation, and financial statements. The Intuit Design for Delight Innovator certification helps individuals validate their knowledge of design thinking principles and the tools needed to identify problems, gain customer empathy, brainstorm solutions, run experiments, test assumptions, pivot, and much more. This type of thinking promotes creativity, critical thinking, complex problem solving, and other skills that are much needed and valued in today’s workforce.

This certification covers three key principles that focus on how individuals can solve problems, innovate, and “delight” their customers.

The principles include:

  1. Deep Customer Empathy
  2. Go Broad to Go Narrow
  3. Rapid Customer Experiments

When students earn their Intuit Design for Delight Innovator certification, they’ll be equipped with the tools needed to:

  • Understand customers and their pain points
  • Brainstorm broad potential solutions and then narrow those down to determine which will most likely delight the customer
  • Experiment and test solutions

Intuit Personal Finance: Impact beyond the classroom

Financial literacy is not just a subject to be taught in schools; it’s a life skill that empowers individuals to navigate the complex world of money with confidence. Yet, all too often, individuals lack this knowledge, which has both short-term and long-term impacts on their financial well-being.

Enter the Intuit Personal Finance certification – a program designed to bridge this knowledge gap. Specifically tailored to empower individuals, particularly students as they make pivotal financial decisions that will shape their futures, the certification aligns with the national financial literacy standards of the Council for Economic Education (CEE) and the Jump$tart coalition. It validates candidates have acquired the foundational knowledge crucial to mastering the skill of personal finance. The exam is based on the U.S. financial system. 

The core concepts covered in the exams are:

  • Earning income

  • Managing credit

  • Managing risk

Retake Policies

  • If a candidate does not achieve a passing score on any Intuit exam the first time, the candidate must wait one day (24 hours) before retaking the exam.
  • If a candidate does not achieve a passing score the second time, the candidate must wait five days (120 hours) before retaking the exam a third time.
  • A five-day waiting period will be imposed for each subsequent exam retake.
  • There is no annual limit on the number of attempts on the same exam.
  • If a candidate achieves a passing score on an Intuit exam, the candidate may take it again.
  • This policy applies to both voucher-based and site-license-based Certiport Centers.
  • All original vouchers must be used before their expiration dates, without exception.
  • Retake vouchers must be used within 60 days of the initial failed exam. If a retake was purchased, the retake voucher is sent by email after a failed exam.
  • Test results found to violate this retake policy will result in the candidate not being awarded the attempted credential, regardless of the score.

A valid voucher is required for each exam attempt. Do not schedule an exam past the expiration date of the voucher. If the voucher is expired, you must purchase a new voucher. A Certiport voucher is a 16 character code (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). If you purchased a voucher or was issued a voucher from your school or organization, please assign the voucher to your Certiport account, immediately. This ensures the voucher is valid for the exam you are taking. Make sure the name of the voucher correlates to the exam you are taking.

If you purchased a voucher with a retake, the retake is issued ONLY if the exam is failed. A voucher is valid for one exam attempt. A retake is valid for one retake attempt. A retake voucher can only be used for the exam that was not passed. It cannot be used for a different exam.
